Tanzania is a land of contrasts, from the snow-capped peak of mountain Kilimanjaro to the endless plains of Serengeti, from the sun-kissed Island of Zanzibar Archipelago to gentle shores of Lake Victoria. The country contains immense cultural and Natural wealth. It was here on the dusty floor of Olduvai Gorge, that the early man left his first foot prints. It was here on the palm-pringed Zanzibar, that Swahili traders welcomed Dhows and trading boats from across the Indian Ocean.

Tanzania National Parks, established in 1959 manages 12 National Parks. Arusha, Gombe, Katavi, Kilimanjaro, Lake Manyara, Mahale, Mikumi, Ruaha, Rubondo, Serengeti, Tarangire and Udzungwa. Each of Tanzania National Parks offers something unique from the Alpine landscapes of Kilimanjaro to where the bush meets the sea in Saadan. Although these National Parks occupy only 4.5% of the country’s total area, they play a major role in the biodiversity preservation and form the backbone of nature based tourism in Tanzania.
