SEMULIKI  NATIONAL  PARK

Semuliki National Park was created in 1932 and upgraded to National Park status in 1993.  The park spans 220 square km.

Located on the western side of Rwenzori Mountains, Semuliki National Park is dominated by the easternmost extension of the great Ituri Forest of the Congo Basin. This is one of Africa’s most ancient bio-diverse forests and one of the few to survive the last ice age.

You will find numerous features of central rather than east Africa such as thatched huts, west African oil palms, forest home of central African wildlife, and the Semuliki River.  This river is an international boundary known as a miniature version of the Congo River.

It is said Semuliki National Park gives you a taste of central Africa without leaving Uganda.
